The simple and efficient homogeneous liquid–liquid microextraction via flotation assistance method (HLLME-FA) combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was proposed for determination of atrazine. The parameters affecting the HLLME-FA, such as extraction and homogeneous solvent types and volumes, ionic strength, and extraction time were studied. Under optimum conditions, the detection limit of 0.005 ng g−1, linear range of 0.05- 50 ng g−1, and the precision (RSD%, n = 7) of 3.5 % were obtained. The enrichment factor of 2437.5 was achieved in the process. Central composite design was applied to predict the proposed process. At the predicted conditions, the extraction efficiency of 98.6 ± 0.4 % was experimentally obtained. The proposed procedure showed satisfactory results for analysis of water samples.
