The grand historical and geographical position of Iran has led to the development of commerce and the accumulation of investment of this land in most historical periods. In the Qajar Era, this strategic advantage of Iran was accompanied by the advancement of universal commerce. These conditions resulted in the remarkable flourishing of some cities of Iran such as Yazd. In this article, it has been tried to explain the reasons for this economic development, as well as reviewing the role of the merchants in the historical context of Yazd city based on the historical texts and historical observable evidence. Results showed that the changes due to the industrial revolution and its effect on the universal commerce, the prosperity of international commerce of Iran, strategic position of Yazd and the settlement of Zoroastrian merchants that had a great commercial relationship with Parsis were the significant reasons for this commercial improvemen.
