Lily is one of the most important ornamental crops worldwide, both as a cut flower and as a flower bulb. Lily bulb scales are the common starting material in in vitro and in vivo propagation. Lily scales cultured in vitro regenerate bulblets that are used as propagules. The size of lily bulblets produced in vitro strongly influences performance after planting. We examined the effect of light quality on lily growth in vitro using LEDs. Bulblets regenerated under deep red and Deep red plus blue were larger than under standard light (TL33), blue light, far red, and dark condition respectively with 83.2 and 77.5 mg fresh weight per bulblet.
