چکیده

Magnetic nano bismuth ferrite, BiFeO3 nanoparticles (BFO-NPs) were synthesized by coprecipitation method by the reaction of commercially available hydrated bismuth nitrate and iron nitrate. XRD studied the crystal structure of BFO-NPs. SEM and TEM analyses were used to study the morphology and evaluate the particle size of the composite. The magnetic properties were investigated by VSM. BFO-NPs showed a high surface area and strong Lewis acid sites, making it a catalyst of choice for Baeyer-Villiger (BV) oxidation using aqueous H2O2 as an inexpensive oxidant. The catalyst was simply separated from the reaction mixture by an external magnet after the catalytic reaction. The BFO-NPs catalyst was recycled in eight steps without significant loss of activity. Encouraging results at the laboratory scale, tested with designed devices at the gram scale, demonstrated the real potential of these catalysts in large-scale applications. This method offers several advantages including high yield, operational simplicity, clean reaction conditions, and minimal environmental contamination, which make it a useful and attractive process for Baeyer-Villiger oxidation.
