Abstract

Corrosion inhibition characteristics of the green polymer were determined on mild steel in 1 N HCl at 25-50 ◦C using polarization technique. The adsorption of inhibitor on carbon steel in 1 N HCl follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic adsorption parameters (Kads ,ΔGads,ΔHads,Δsads, Ea) of studied inhibitor were calculated using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Results obtained show that CMC considered as green corrosion inhibitor for corrosion of mild steel because it is non-toxic, low –cost and environmentally accepted polymer. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increase in CMC concentration but decreased with rise in temperature, which suggest physical adsorption.
